Description |
BEATTY hay fork or hay lifter. It has a metal frame, and two wooden pulleys with metal frames. A. Metal frame. It is symmetrical at the bottom, where there are two pointed, 12.5 cm-wide pieces, but asymetrical at the top. There is a solid eye at the top of the frame. The metal has a green finish, and two large red areas on the other side (likely not the originals). One side is cast with "MADE IN CANADA", while the other side is cast with part numbers (e.g. F14) and a script-style "BEATTY" mark. These pulleys were used with the lifter. B. Wooden pulley with metal frame. It has a swivelling eye at the top. The cast metal frame has a reddish finish. The bare, wooden pulley wheel has one wide groove. The cast metal frame has the words "SMART" and "BROCKVILLE" imprinted on it. C. Wooden pulley with metal frame. It was made by another manufacturer. The lettering of the maker's mark is too worn to decipher. The cast iron top frame is fenestrated. It has a swivelling eye at the top. The bare wooden pulley has a single, wide groove. |
