Printer's No. 3095 HAMILTON RULE CASE (no longer contains rules). Wooden item, with open compartments to hold the thin metal strips ("rules"). Case is almost square-shaped. It has faint black ink lettering reading: "No. 3095 Hamilton Rule Case". The compartments are marked with numerals. The back side of the case has a circular, impressed stamp reading "THE HAMILTON MFG. CO. TWO RIVERS WIS. MADE IN USA". The dividers for the rules have semi-circular cuts in them. |

Manufactured by Hamilton Manufacturing Co. in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, in the United States. Likely dates to the 20th-century. It was used in the letterpress-printing process. It belonged to the Knight Press in Meaford, Grey County. Last owned by Dick Knight of Meaford, Grey County, whose father established The Knight Press in 1929. Dick Knight took over his father's establishment, which operated until 1990. |
