Description |
Clear pressed glass medicine bottle from Parker & Co. drugstore. It has an oval shaped footprint with one flat side, like a flask. The moulded lettering on the front says "PARKER & CO / DRUGGISTS / OWEN SOUND ONT". There are many bubbles trapped in the glass and an odd diagonal imperfection on the bottom of the bottle. It is clean and once took a cork. |
Provenance |
Likely dates from the 1890s or early 20th-century. The Parker & Co. drugstore business began in Owen Sound in the 1850s under the name of Parker & Cattle. It had a long history (and its store locations changed). Owen Sound did not have a bottle glass factory, so the bottle must have been custom-made for the drugstore at another locale. Unknown provenance. Last owned by Mark Clement of Owen Sound, Grey County. |
