Description |
A collar badge from the 8th Canadian Reserve Battalion. It has an openwork-style "8" above an ONTARIO banner that is flanked with "C" and "R", above some maple leaves. The brass or bronze badge (A) is secured by means of a detachable split pin (B). |
Provenance |
Belonged to Whitford A. Harris of Owen Sound, Grey County, who initially belonged to the 248th Battalion. In England, the 248th was placed into the 8th Canadian Reserve Battalion and the men used as drafts for other units. Harris was drafted to the 58th Battalion in 1917. |
