Description |
One of two matching 147th Battalion overseas collar badges which match cap badge (see 2015.014.004). The maple leaf shaped badge's metal was purposefully darkened (this is its original finish). |
Provenance |
Issued to and belonged to Sergeant Reuben Neath of Owen Sound (one of Patricia Brown's grand-uncles). His regimental number was 838559. He was with the 147th Grey Overseas Battalion and later was transferred to the 38th Battalion in 1917. He survived the war. The item somehow ended up in Kansas and, by 2015, in a Detroit, Michigan, area antique shop where it was listed for sale on-line. Patricia Brown, Sergeant Neath's niece, purchased it on E-Bay and it was its last owner. |
