Provenance |
Aubrey Holmes told museum staff that this was collected in 1879 by his father, George Holmes, from near graves at Newash (the Brookeholm or Brooke area of Owen Sound), Grey County. In a 1992 telephone conversation with Joan Hyslop, Melba Morris Croft, who conversed with Aubrey Holmes, said that he had told her that the graves were located at the intersection of 23rd St. and 3rd Avenue West, Owen Sound (Brooke area). Archaeologist Bill Fitzgerald wonders if they were found at the Mary Miller Park site? It last belonged to Aubrey Holmes of Owen Sound. |
