Description |
One of two parade and In Memoriam badges from Lady Victoria Lodge No. 1183 L.O.B.A. Durham. There is a yellow-printed red ribbon, with an overhanging orange ribbon that is machine-embroidered with two Union Jack flags, a maple leaf and a beaver. Suspended on the orange ribbon is a colourful printed metal round button, with "LADIES' ORANGE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION and symbols of the Holy Bible, a cross, a heart and an anchor. The top pin has a red-printed sheaf symbol with "F" "H" and"C", with "L.O." to its left, and "B.A." to its right. The other side of the badge has a white-printed black ribbon to be worn at funerals. Inserted inside the ribbons is a black-printed thin card from the Dominion Regalia Co. Ltd. See Related for the matching badge. |

Manufactured in Toronto by the Dominion Regalia Co. Ltd. The Lady Victoria Lodge No. 1183 L.O.B.A. was established on May 22, 1949. The item was worn by either Dorothy Aljoe (née Lawrence, d. 1979), or her mother-in-law, Alice Aljoe (née Donnelly, d. 1968), who both belonged to the group. Passed down to/last owned by Robert Aljoe of Durham. |
