Description |
This is a primitive-looking wooden bobsled. It is likely a late 19th-century item. It's wooden surfaces have been left bare. There is a rope at the front end attached to the corners of the front runners. |
Provenance |
Maker unknown. Belonged to Roy Eberth as a child. Roy and Ella Eberth farmed at Lot 33 NDR in BentinckTownship, Grey County. Then belonged to his daughter, Dorothy Milligan (neé Eberth). She was a schoolgirl c. 1929, and her brother also was in school c. 1930. Her grandfather, Christian Eberth of Lot 33, N.D.R. [North of Durham Road], Bentinck Township, Grey County, possibly had it before her father did, so it may be a late 19th-century item. In 1991, she told museum staff that it was likely over a hundred years old at that time. |
