Description |
Parker & Co. drugstore's small delivery sledge (sled). This delivery sledge has iron runners secured on with flat-headed slotted screws. The underside of the sled has P&C OS impressed [Parker & Co.]. There are three wooden runner supports, braced with curved iron rod pieces with snake-headed ends. Dark red finish on the underside and legs of the sled. Two iron rings at the front were intended to hold a straw rope (no longer extant). The box-like top area has 2 long exterior sides decorated in black/red/dull orange with the wording PARKER & CO. 2 boards form the bottom of the box. |

Made for/by and used by The Parker & Co. drugstore in Owen Sound, Grey County in the late 19th or early 20th century. Last owned by Robert Francis of RR 2, Owen Sound. He purchased the Parker & Co. business in 1954 and sold it circa 1985. |
