Description |
White-glazed, scallop-edged cake plate with two voids making self handles. The top has colourful transfer-printed berries and daisy sprays (4) with gilt decoration and a central transfer print of a brick residence with the caption below it in black, "Souvenir of Williamsford, Ont." There is also moulded beading and fronds at the scalloped edge. No maker's mark. |

Unknown maker and provenance. Possibly custom-ordered by a store in Williamsford, Grey County, and possibly decorated in Europe. The lack of a country of origin suggests it pre-dates March, 1891. The brick house that is illustrated depicts the ______________ house in Williamsford. Collected by Glen Stephens of Williamsford, Grey County, at an unknown date. His estate was auctioned in the fall of 2017. Grey Roots Museum purchased this piece from the second of his estate auctions on September 23, 2017. |
