Printer's CHALLENGE Hi-Speed Tee Head Quoin Key and original box. (A-D): Two-piece rectangular cardboard box with green printing. Model might be "GG-244-8" as indicated on the box. "THE CHALLENGE MACHINERY CO. GRAND HAVEN, MICHIGAN". There is a printed leaflet inside. C. Quoin Key: This quoin key is silvertone and its left handle has a badly-stamped "CHALLENGE" mark. D. Leaflet with illustration of the quoin key. This item identifies what is the handle, what is the lock-nut and what is the removable shank of the quoin key. Black-printed on thin blue cardboard. |

Dates to post-1932, since (as an Internet site mentions) this was the year the company introduced their Hi-Speed Quoin products. The Challenge Machinery Co. manufactured various printing equipment items. Belonged to the Knight Press in Meaford, Grey County. Last owned by Dick Knight of Meaford, Grey County, whose father established The Knight Press in 1929. Dick Knight took over his father's establishment, which operated until 1990. |
