Printer's cut (printer's block), a rectangular wooden block with a molded piece of metal nailed onto it. It has a letterhead-style heading (or perhaps an envelope label) for Black Clawson-Kennedy Ltd. of Owen Sound, Ontario. |
Provenance |
Manufactured by and belonged to the Richardson, Bond & Wright printing company in Owen Sound, Grey County. Dates to between 1960 and 1975. This business was often referred to as "R-B-W", or "RBW". It was succeeded in Owen Sound by Transcontinental Printing Ltd. Black Clawson-Kennedy (BCK) was a foundry and machine shop industry originally known as Wm. Kennedy & Sons, and was located on 1st Avenue West, Owen Sound. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Nels Maher (a local, professional printer) and Wayne Landen (Museum Director) worked towards building a collection of vintage printing equipment, in order to someday build a period print shop at the County of Grey-Owen Sound Museum. |
