"Ration Book 6". Item has form-printed black lettering on a thin, dull yellow cardboard cover. Staple-bound. Hand-written pen ink entries on the cover. Indicates that owner's reference number was KR 177958. Item's form number is RB-275. Reverse side has a rectangular silver-coloured sticker affixed (doesn't seem to be original to the piece). |

Provenance |
Manufacturer unknown, but made in Canada in the early 1940s. Item was issued to Alex McDonald of Kemble, Grey County during the Second World War (1939-1945), by the Ration Administration--Wartime Prices and Trade Board in Montreal. Rationing was in effect from 1942-1946 (and formally ended in 1947). The last Canadian ration books were produced in 1946. Item was found by its last owner, Isabel Cutting, inside the Kemble General Store building in Kemble, Grey County, in the 1970s. |
