Description |
Brown leather school bag with long shoulder strap. Bag has a buckle on the front through which a strap with holes in it attached to the flap goes. The shoulder strap also has holes in one end so that it can be shortened or lengthened and is buckled onto one side. |
Provenance |
Previously owned by Rev. and Mrs. C. J. Lister. Charles Lister was a Disciples Church (Church of Christ) minister who was born in England. In the 1871 census, he was residing at Owen Sound. One of the early "saddlebag preachers" in Grey County, he was listed as being 50 years old in the 1871 census of Ontario. Rev. Lister was often on horseback, travelling as part of his evangelical ministry. This school bag belonged to the Lister children. |
