Description |
Woman's expanding gate-style metal mesh coin purse, 1910s. The neck of the purse has a ring of extension bars so that the purse can be opened up and then drawn up again with ease. When closed, there is a hinged silvertone cap at the top. It is decorated with a fancy pressed design. No maker's identification seen. The metal mesh is not lined. Its bottom edge has three pendant steel balls. The sides of the gate area have two joining rings so there must have once been a handle (which was likely a linked chain). |
