Description |
Gold tea leaf (cloverleaf-like motif) glazed white china pitcher. It is a tableware item, of small size, perhaps would be useful for syrup or cream? There is single tea leaf motif on two sides, along a horizontal gold band. The lip and spout were also defined with gilt striping (now worn), and the moulded handle also has a vertical gilt stripe. The round base tapers towards the spout. No pottery identification mark. |

Unknown maker. Belonged to the Hugh and Jeanette (Jane) McKay family who farmed in the Annan/Leith area of Sydenham Township, Grey County. The McKay family farm was located about one mile north of Leith. A son, Donald Gordon (Doug) McKay, and his wife Olive (née Beattie), also farmed there in Sydenham Township, until 1940, when they moved to Derby Township to another farm (Lot 9, along Highway 21). The item was last kept by their daughter, Donna McKay-Mills of Owen Sound, Grey County. |
