Probably collected during the First World War by John Wesley Ritchie of Berkeley, Grey County, who served overseas, originally with the 147th Grey (Overseas) Battalion (created in 1915), which was disbanded and drafted into other units that needed reinforcements after they reached England. Therefore, John Ritchie likely did not get to France until 1917-1918. Susequently owned by his wife, May Ritchie. |
