Description |
A silver-plated soup ladle with a plain design. Maker's mark (hallmark) is located on the back of the handle and consists of 5 raised symbols, the first reading EP, denoting that the spoon had been manufactured via the electroplating process. The curved handle tip of the spoon bears a blank, raised, shield shape. The plating has worn through on the convex side of the bowl and on the back of the handle in several places. |

Provenance |
Last owned by Amy Kennedy, who suggested that it dates from the 1870s. She was a grand-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Inglis of Inglis Falls, Derby Township, Grey County (near Owen Sound). Her mother, Helen Inglis, married Mr. Thomas Kennedy of Owen Sound, Grey County. Thomas was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kennedy Sr. Peter Inglis was a mill owner. In her lifetime, Miss Kennedy resided both at Inglis Falls and at Owen Sound, Grey County. The hallmark on the ladle identifies it as being manufactured at ________, circa 18__. |
