Provenance |
Custom-made by an unknown maker for the Douglas & Taylor jewellery store at Owen Sound, Grey County. This partnership was lasted from1910 to 1928, when Mr. Taylor went into business with his son, Creighton Taylor, and began using the business name "D.C. Taylor & Son". George Manjuris moved to Owen Sound in 1918, so it post-dates then. He was a long-time merchant / store owner who had the Manjuris tobacco and billiards business along main street. The item may have been first kept by his wife, Helen Manjuris. It was last owned by their only child, Athryn Athena Manjuris, and it might have been used for a child's ring that she owned? Athryn died in Owen Sound on February 17, 2010, at the age of eighty-nine. She is buried with her parents in Greenwood Cemetery. This item was found among items in her Estate and last kept by her relative, Michael E. Comars. |
