Form-printed thank-you letter from the King, authorized in 1919 and issued to Private Lorne Mountain. It is printed on one side only, and has a fold line in the center. The top has an embossed, red-printed coat of arms. The letter reads "His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to authorize the issue of the enclosed medal, which I am directed by the Honourable the Minister of Militia and Defence to convey to you herewith. [Signature is hard to read] Major-General, Adjutant-General, Canadian Militia." |

Made by Militia Headquarters, in Ottawa, Ontario. Dates to 1919. Sent and belonged to Lorne Mountain (1896 - 1974), a soldier in the First World War who came from Durham, Grey County. Provenance between 1974 and 2009 is unknown. Purchased on Ebay. |
