Description

Medicine bottle from the Parker & Co. drugstore. The bottle is light aqua blue with a pearly finish and an oval footprint. Except for a bit of residue, it is clean, and it once took a cork. The front of the bottle has a rectangular margin moulded around "PARKER & CO / OWEN SOUND" in emboss-style lettering.

Provenance

Likely dates from the 1890s or early 20th-century, when aqua glass was popular for bottles. The Parker & Co. drugstore business began in Owen Sound in the 1850s under the name of Parker & Cattle. It had a long history (and its store locations changed). Owen Sound did not have a bottle glass factory, so the bottle must have been custom-made for the drugstore at another locale.
