Description |
Likely a collar dog badge, that would have been worn by a man who in the 8th Canadian Reserve Battalion in England c. 1916-1917. The badge was originally a two-piece item, but the split pin fastener is gone now. Due to the size, there is only a jeweller's tag with the number applied to the badge piece. The badge has a maple leaf shape to it, and a King's Crown above an encircled "8". The circle has "CENTRAL ONTARIO RES." on it. "CANADA" is below the 8. Collar badges were used in pairs, also see 1972.022.012ab. |

Belonged/issued to Private Whitford A. Harris, 1066023, of Owen Sound, Grey County. He enlisted for the First World War on Dec. 13, 1916 with the 248th Battalion. Private Whitford A. Harris was drafted to the 58th Battalion after arriving in England. Last owned by his wife, Alma Isabelle Harris (neé Horton) of Owen Sound, Grey County. |
