Battenburg lace was very popular in the 1890s and early 20th-century, and it was used to embellish clothing, household linens and also was used to decorate photograph mats and other items. Some Battenburg lace patterns were available in mail-order catalogues c. 1901. It is not known who made this piece, or what year it was stitched. |
