Yellow-painted, wooden marine propeller casting pattern. The pattern is 35 inches in diameter and has a 39 inch pitch. It is intended for making a left hand wheel. It has black-painted lettering on it, reading: "774-50" and "35-30" and "35-39L / VARIABLE "COOLIDGE"" |

Manufactured by Black Clawson-Kennedy in Owen Sound, Grey County prior to 1960. Last owned by Paul Capel of Owen Sound, Grey County. He told museum staff that he acquired five or six of these items when the Kennedy's building on the East Bayshore Road was scheduled to be torn down, and people were invited to take what they wanted. |

Skilled patternmakers needed to make a wooden form for green sand casting, which would be done in a foundry. Since the wooden patterns could be re-used, they were often kept for a long time, and a lot of work went into making them. |
