Description |
Woman's black lace shoulder cape. It has a netting panel inside. Three tiers of ornate black lace hang in sheer fashion so that the dress bodice beneath would be visible. The lace has large Paisley like motifs in it. Metal hooks and eyes are used for the front closure. There is a double-tiered ruffle of corded black fabric at the neckline, and some black silk lining (but only in the upper collar area). |
Provenance |
Likely used by a woman of the Bishop or MacKay family of Owen Sound, Grey County. Last owned by Fred MacKay Jr. of Owen Sound, who was a descendant from the MacKay family, the Hiram Kilbourn family, the Ebenzeer Bishop family and the William Avery Bishop Sr. family. |
