Provenance |
Made by Frederick Boldt of Williamsford, Grey County. Likely dates to the late 19th-century. Frederick Boldt was born on November 17, 1859. Originally from Brant Township, he and his wife moved to Williamsford between 1881 and 1887. He was a casket maker and carpenter, and used a former school structure in Williamsford to store caskets circa 1887. He died in 1950. Belonged to William J. Black. It was used on the Black farm in Berkeley, Holland Township, Grey County. The 1901 census of Holland Township listed the Black family at Lot 66, Concession 2, W.T.S.R. Residing with them were Mary McCann and J. Mary McCann. Last owned by John McCann of Meaford, Grey County. |
