Provenance |
Belonged to Laura Menzies, an Owen Sound, Ontario girl who died at the age of 4 from pneumonia (about 1907). She had a female doll. This doll bodice is made from the same fabric as that used in the burial dress of the little girl. Laura was the daughter of George and Laura Menzies, and a grand-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McIntyre. Her brother, R. W. "Bert" Menzies lived in Owen Sound, Ontario. Bert was born in 1891. George Menzies died in November of 1941, in his 80th year. The doll and her clothing, was given to the Porter girls by the late Laura Menzies (their great aunt). The previous owner, Mrs. Arthur Porter, resided in Owen Sound. |
