Description |
A collection box with a long wooden handle and velvet lining. See RELATED for its mate. |
Provenance |
Previously owned by Mrs. E. Engel of RR#3, Chatsworth, Ontario. She did not say how she came to have this collection box, but said that it had been hand-made out of wood by George Stephens and used at the Presbyterian Church at Desboro, Grey County. This church building was built in 1876. The interior suffered a fire in 1886, but we do not know if the collection box set survived that event, or if they were made afterwards. |
