Printer's long-shanked Tee-head CHALLENGE quoin key. The quoin key looks very different from others in the collection, due to its long shank. The tee-head handle has CHALLENGE impressed at the left; centrally, the handle has an "H". The working end of the key has a pentfoil shape. Steel item. |

Manufactured by the Challenge Machinery Co. of Grand Haven, Michigan, in the United States. Item post-dates 1903, as this was the year in which the Challenge Machinery Co. moved to Grand Haven. Belonged to the Knight Press, which was founded in 1929 and closed in 1990. Some of their equipment was purchased from the former Meaford Monitor newspaper. The Knight Press was located in Meaford, Grey County. Item was last owned by Dick Knight of Meaford, Grey County, who was the proprietor of this press. It formerly belonged to his father. |
