Description |
E. INGRAHAM CO. wall clock (Itasca Model). The clock has a pressed decoration in its wooden case (oak wood?), that is varnished. The lenticle is decorated with gold church window motifs. The clock is spring-driven, with an anchor escapement. It was intended to strike every half hour. The pendulum ball is cylindrical. The alarm was set by placing the hour desired on an inner ring, which is under the hour hand. The dial has Roman numerals and spade hands. The base of the case has a spirit level mounted in it, with a brass plate around it. The brass works are stamped with "E. INGRAHAM COMPANY, BRISTOL, CONN. U.S.A." There are nails used in the construction of the case. There is a label present inside: "Wind the clock bogth sides and see / that beat of pendulum is regular and equal. If Clock strikes / incorrectly, raise the hanging wire on left side of movement / repeating as necessary. To set alarm--Place the hour (on the / small or alarm dial) at which you wish alarm to ring directly / back of short or hour hand, then wind alarm spring in lower part of clock / If clock runs too fast, lower the ball each day until corrected; if / clock runs too slowly raise the ball." |
