Description |
Spectacle case from W. H. TAYLOR, Refractionist, Owen Sound. There is a black, slightly textured surface (leather-like) with gold printing for the lettering. The case is like a flattened tube, open at one end with a u-shaped area (at the right side) to facilitate pulling out the spectacles. The case is marked "B". |

Circa 1894, W. H. Taylor had a drugstore in Owen Sound on Poulett St. It was known as "The Palace Drugstore". He also did optometry work and was described as a "Refractionist" . Belonged to the J.M. Rogers family of Woodford, Grey County. The last owner was Edna Spence (neé Woods). After her mother's death when she was young, the Rogers family fostered her for some time while she growing up in Woodford. She later inherited a number of their belongings. |
