Provenance |
This sampler likely was made by either Isabella Inglis, or Helen Inglis. Both were daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Inglis of Inglis Falls, Derby Township, Grey County. In 1868, Isabella was 7 years old, and did sampler embroidery, as there is a dated sampler in the collection that she made. She was listed in the 1871 census as 10 years old She attended high school in Owen Sound in the 1870s. She died circa 1882-1883. Her sister Helen Inglis died in 1924 at the age of 77 (she was Mrs. Thomas Kennedy of Owen Sound). Last owned by A. Amy Kennedy, a daughter of Helen Inglis (Mrs. Kennedy), and a niece of Isabella. She lived at Inglis Falls for many years, and later resided in Owen Sound. |
