Description |
Long-spouted C.N.R. engine oiler (oil can). Its spout tapers to a small, curved tip. The can area is shouldered, and has a filler area with exterior threading and a round metal cap on it. The cap is affixed by a short chain to the handle. A thick bent wire piece is mounted above the handle, where it can be worked by the user's thumb. The initials "C.N.R." are embossed on one side, towards the bottom. The whole oiler has a drippy black finish on it. |

Manufacturer unknown. Dates to the 20th-century. Belonged to the Canadian National Railways. Last owned by Allan Nicholson of Palmerston, Ontario. He acquired vintage railway equipment at auctions and sales in Grey and Bruce counties. |
