Description |
White porcelain pitcher with a transfer-print. On the front is a transfer print of the frontal view of the King's Royal Hotel hotel, with some trees. It is captioned with "KING'S ROYAL HOTEL OWEN SOUND ONT.". The primary colours are green, blue, black, pink and white. Around the transfer-print, along the rim and on the outside of the handle haas gilt decor. There is a maker's mark that reads "Made in Austria for W.K. Ireland & Co., Owen Sound, Ont./ Vienna." |

Custom-ordered by the King's Royal Hotel at Balmy Beach, Sarawak Township, Grey County. Manufactured in Vienna, Austria. The hotel opened in 1902, and closed in 1915 (the building was torn down in 1916). Provenance unknown. Collected by Arthur Harrison (1918-2000) and inherited by daughter-in-law, Helen Harrison of Owen Sound, Grey County. |
