Description |
A black ink drawing by John Geerts (looks like M. Geerty), 1981, showing a design of the Corporation of the County of Grey Council Ontario Canada. It has a background maple leaf drawn with narrow parallel lines, and a version of the Grey County Crest showing a crowned male lion at the left and a lioness (or unstriped tiger) at the right. Centrally there is scaling ladder, a Crown, and then a star and rampant lion on the crest area. Below is a banner with the motto "De Bon Vouloir Servir le Roy". The item was matted and framed under glass, with a lightly-finished mitred wooden frame, and has a single eye screw installed at the back for hanging it. The back side has an adhesive address label from John Geerts. |
Makers mark |
Signature in black ink at the bottom right area almost looks like a "M Geerty", but the reverse side has a black-printed gold foil adhesive address label with "John Geerts / Pen & Ink Drawings / Markdale, Ont. N0C 1H0 / Ph: 519-986-2775" |
