Description |
A tire dog used for pulling a tire into place over a wheel rim. This tool is all-metal. There is a thick rod-like handle. The working end has a pivoting almost L-shaped piece that has an area of ridging on its inner side. The top end of the tool has a somewhat squared, flattened shape with an angled and grooved? top surface. There is an impress-stamped maker's mark on the pivoting piece that has two curved lines and "T PINK" and "MAKERS". |

Provenance |
Made by "T PINK" (as yet unidentified manufacturer). Likely owned by William Edward Rice who came from Orangeville in 1906. After being in Grey County for some time, on September 12, 1912, he bought a small piece of property near the southeast corner of the E-1/2 Lot 3, Concession 6 in Holland Township. He moved the blacksmith shop to this location, where it remained until it was closed. It was operated by his son, George Rice, for many years. Last owned by Gilbert Rice. |
