Description |
This is a right-hand Vair pitch marine propeller, that was made by BCK [Black Clawson-Kennedy] at Owen Sound, Ontario. The pitch is 28 and a half inches, while the diameter is 36 inches. This would make it suitable for a diesel vessel. The propeller is made of manganese bronze. Markings on it: "BCK LTD / OWEN SOUND / CANADA 18199 1/2 No 4 / HEAT AB74-63 / D.T.C. / T43.2 / E35.9 / JRH7-6-63" [has a logo-like dollar sign-like motif in a circle] "18-6-63 / JRH" [perhaps an inspector's initials?] |

Provenance |
Prior to the 1950s take over of the plant by Black Clawson (New York-based), the propeller-manufacturing was done by Wm. Kennedy & Sons Ltd. The propeller might be dated 1963 - this is an assumption from the "63" numerals on it. |
