Description |
This is a small, pressed glass, transparent measure (medicine glass) from PARKER & CO. CHEMISTS OWEN SOUND. The base is slightly narrower than the top. The lettering is emboss-style in a vertical-style oval at one side of the glass. TABLE / DESSERT / TEA is embossed on the other side of the medicine glass, along with graduation marks. |
Provenance |
The Parker & Co. drugstore was a longlasting Owen Sound business, that began in 1856 as "Parker & Cattle" (known as Parker & Co. after 1869). It had various locations over the years. Owen Sound did not have a factory to make glasswares like this, so Parker & Co. would have ordered these from elsewhere, and shipped in. Provenance unknown. May have belonged to the Hutton family. Last owned by Marie Woyce (née Hutton) of Owen Sound, Grey County. |
