Function |
Used by carpenter or woodworker to drill a hole in wood. The terms screw, twist or spiral are applied to augers and auger bits which have a body twisted into a sprial shape. One of the main advantages of the twisted form is that shavings ascend the spiral body and therefore frequent withdrawl of the tool to clear it is unnecessary. It normally would have a wooden cylinder inserted into the eye to create a twist handle. |
