Description |
This is a Canadian Centennial souvenir china plate, 24.5 cm in diameter, that has a gold band trim around the perimeter. Centrally there is the multi-coloured abstract maple leaf logo. Below it is "1867 1967 / CANADA-CONFEDERATION" transfer-printed in blue. The back side has a golden-transfer printed maple leaf and banner logo with "DECORATED IN CANADA", below which is "22 K. GOLD / 100% CANADIAN". See RELATED for other Centennial items. |
Makers mark |
The back side has a golden-brown maple leaf and banner logo with "DECORATED IN CANADA", below which is "22 K. GOLD / 100% CANADIAN". [It does not say the location, but the maple leaf and banner design is like that used later on by the Canadian Art China Co. Limited at Collingwood] |
Provenance |
This souvenir plate was collected the same year as it was made. It commemorates the 1967 Centennial of Canada. One of the Centennial projects at Owen Sound, Ontario, was the creation of the County of Grey-Owen Sound Museum building, which was located behind the Grey County Administration building. The museum's address was 975 6th St. East. The Centennial logo was designed by Stuart Ash. |
