Provenance |
The item was manufactured by the Toronto Silverplate Company. The King's Royal Hotel opened on July 1, 1902, and was torn down in 1915. The hotel had closed in 1911 for two years, and efforts were made to revive the business but it was not financially successful. The item was owned by Charles W. Lowther who acquired a number of items that had formerly belonged to George D. McLauchlan, likely at a sale. George's brother, John H. McLauchlan, and Joseph Kent McLauchlan, had been the founders of the King's Royal Hotel business and McLauchlan Park. |
