Function |
This item was called a "vest" in 1929 when it was hand-made by a bride-to-be as part of a matching set of lingerie for her trousseau. In the 1910s, lace-trimmed garments like this were identified as "vests" in the Simpson's catalogue. She also went to the work of monogramming each item in the set with her initial in embroidery. |
