Description |
Framed painting on board with a light painted frame with gold paint on the frame's corners. The subject of the painting is of a lake or wide river with a white fence in the foreground, a thin tree with green foliage on the left and two large birches and a conifer on the right. The opposite side of the land, across the water, has fall coloured foliage. The paining is signed "FLO CAMPBELL" in the bottom left corner. The back of the painting has wide paper tape and two eye screws and a hanging wire. |

Painted by Flo Campbell (1893-1959) sometime between 1913 and her death in 1959. Likely a scene in or around Owen Sound, Grey County. Owned by Mattie (nee MacInnis) and Frank Howey who farmed at 803632 Grey Road 40, Grey County. Passed to their son, Gilbert Howey (1933-2024) who was a psychiatrist in Owen Sound and Toronto. Passed to his son, Ian Howey, in 2024. |
