Colourless glass cream bottle with "Scenic City / Dairy" in embossed, script-style lettering inside a round margin. It has an indistinct C in a triangle mark (Consumers Glass). |

Provenance |
Manufactured by Consumers Glass for the Scenic City Dairy business, which was located at 314 8th St. East, Owen Sound. In 1939, Wilbur Smith, R. J. Walter, Victor C. Porteous, Tom Rutherford (= Colonel T. J. Rutherford), his son Jaffray Rutherford of Leith, and Sidney Murray bought a pre-existing dairy along 8th St. in Owen Sound, Grey County. The new owners called it the Scenic City Dairy. In 1949, the Smith family bought out the other shareholders. The Scenic City Dairy was still operating c. 1960. Collected by Glen Stephens of Williamsford, Grey County, at an unknown date. His estate was auctioned in the fall of 2017. Grey Roots Museum purchased this piece from the first of his estate auctions on September 16, 2017. |
