Description |
Natural, creamy-yellow, hand-made woollen baby jacket. It is crocheted in an openwork pattern, and has no lining. The top neck edge has a matching crocheted string inserted, with two rounded, crocheted end-ties at the front. The sleeve ends, the bottom edge, and the chest edges are scalloped. |

Maker unknown. Likely dates to the late 1920s. Belonged to Audrey Isabell Matches (1929 - 2010). She trained as a nurse at the Owen Sound General and Marine Hospital, and graduated in 1951. She did post-graduate work in British Columbia. She worked for a long time at the General and Marine Hospital, and subsequently at the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre. Audrey Matches was an Operating Room nurse and retired in 1988. She died on August 15, 2010. The Matches family burials are in Hillcrest Cemetery, in Tara, Bruce County. |
