Description |
Sheer black knee-length, long-sleeved, V-neck dress with square eyelets and mother-of-pearl and rhinestone clip attached to belt. Clip does up at front. Belt is sewn to the back of the dress at the waistline. There are square eyelet openwork areas. |

Maker unknown. An early 20th-century item. The last owner, Bessie Newman, told museum staff that it had belonged to someone in the Witherspoon family (her husband's maternal relations). The Witherspoons had a farm at Jackson, Grey County (west of Owen Sound). Jessie, Anne, Lillian, Maud, Walter, Dave, Jim and Peter were members of the family. |
