Description |
Foundry casting pattern with "fillet" and "THIS PATTERN FOR IRON" on it. The wooden casting pattern is predominately black-painted, and is round-shaped, with red and yellow areas. The non-casting side has "THIS PATTERN FOR IRON" hand-lettered in white. There are 13 projecting "teeth" or cogs (looks like a gear). One of these teeth has "fillet" painted on it. There is a hexagonal "K" logo affixed, as well as a lead strip die-stamped with "A-1048". "SEE NEW PATTERN" "USE THIS PATTERN FOR IRON ONLY". |
Provenance |
The foundry casting pattern for a part was made and kept by Black Clawson-Kennedy, a company and foundry that was located at 1141 1st Ave. West in Owen Sound, Grey County until 1997, when it closed. This pattern likely dates from a 1962 order. BCK was best-known for producing large ship propellers, but it also made various marine parts as well as industrial and mining and paper-making equipment. It was formerly known as William Kennedy & Sons Ltd. The item last belonged to Mr. Kerry Murch of Meaford, Grey County. |
