Description |
Masonic pin/jewel of Brother P. E. Johnston (formerly of the Durham Masonic Lodge). Aqua-green ribbed silk or synthetic silk ribbon. This ribbon has a hinged ball catch pinstem top bar ribbon hanger. The display side has curlicues and "GUELPH". Another bar, midway on the ribbon, has "LODGE". Another goldtone ribbon holder at the bottom also has curlicues, and "No. 258 G.R.C." There is a jump ring that has a goldtone gradated square motif, with a repeated leaf pattern at the right. Suspended on two rings below with is an openwork rectangular pendant, with a ____ symbol in it. The reverse side of the angular square is engraved with "P. E. JOHNSTON" and "1990". |

Nothing is on this pin item, but its blue ribbon looks like the ribbon used on the lambskin apron item. The apron has a stitched-on the back rectangular white label machine-woven with a motif of a red tunic and bearskin hat wearing soldier and "Stokes / CAP & REGALIA LTD. / SCARBOROUGH ONTARIO". Perhaps the pin/ribbon item was made there too? |

Likely manufactured by Stokes Cap & Regalia Ltd of Scarborough. Belonged to/worn by P. E. Johnston. He entered Freemasonry on September 13, 1983, and passed on January 10, 1984, was raised on April 14, 1984, and was made WM [Worshipful Master] in 1989-1990. He was with the Durham Lodge No. 303 A.F. & A.M. (Masonic Lodge of Durham, Grey County) in the 1980s, and with Guelph Lodge No. 258 G.R.C. in 1990. This item was passed down to Norman Robinson of the Edge Hill area of Glenelg Township. Last belonged to Norman's wife, Ruth Anne Robinson (née Hollands), of Kincardine, Ontario. |
