Description |
This is a cast metal toy or miniature iron frying pan, that is impress-cast with "Empire Stoves & Ranges Owen Sound". It is plated silver tone with rusting now where the plating has worn. Two slight spouts are present on either side of the pan. An eye is also present on the end of the handle. |

Provenance |
Made by the Canadian Heating and Ventilating Company which was established in 1903 by Mr. W. J. Christie of Owen Sound, Grey County. Some of the C.H. & V. Co. products had the word "Empire" in their model names. In 1917, the company was re-organized and re-named as "The Empire Stove and Furnace Company". Reportedly the baked enamelling plant was added in 1929. There was a fire in July, 1944 at the factory. The company was sold in 1950 to the Moffat Bros. They closed it in 1952. Provenance unknown. Last owned by Jeanne E. Porlier of Owen Sound, Grey County. |
