Description |
Glass paperweight with a photograph of the King's Royal Hotel at Balmy Beach, Grey County, adhered onto the underside. The photograph image was taken from the water side of the building. The hotel structure (built in 1901 or 1902), has a tower centrally. The paperweight has a rectangular configuration, with rounded corners. It has colourless glass. |
Provenance |
Original provenance unknown. The King's Hotel officially opened on July 1, 1902. The architect was J. C. Forster of Owen Sound. It was located at the shoreline area of Balmy Beach, Sarawak Township, Grey County. Last owned by A. E. Cordingley who operated a store at Shallow Lake, Grey County circa 1914 (see BEAUTIFUL STONEY KEPPEL, p. 178). The hotel was torn down in 1915 or 1916. |
